Pettneu am Arlberg - Must-see attractions
Arlberg Ski Area
Today, Ski Arlberg is the largest interconnected ski area in Austria. 300 kilometers of slopes for all skill levels await you. Additionally, there are 200 km of freeride routes for adventurous winter sports enthusiasts. Snowboard fun parks and race tracks with time measurement complete the winter offerings at Arlberg. The Arlberg ski paradise is made for families. In the St. Anton ski school, the youngest ones have a fun time with the mascot Hoppl. They playfully learn their first turns in the snow. Off the slopes, natural toboggan runs, winter hiking trails, and horse-drawn sleigh rides provide variety.
Pettneu Toboggan Run
The Pettneu toboggan run, classified as easy, overcomes an altitude difference of 122 meters, with the mountain station at 1,350 m and the valley station at 1,228 m. Thanks to the night lighting, the natural toboggan run can also be used in the evening. From the toboggan run, you can start numerous other activities. The selection ranges from leisurely hikes to an ascent of the highest peak in the Verwall Valley, the Hoher Riffler, to numerous kilometers of slopes that ensure varied skiing days in winter.
Schnanner Gorge
Wild and romantic, the water makes its way through the Schnanner Gorge and plunges steeply past rugged rocks into the depths. The path through the gorge is of an easy level of difficulty and can be easily managed with children. The path partly leads directly on airy, floating bridges along the sheer rock walls. While balancing on the well-secured bridges with ropes or railings, you can closely observe the roar of the masses of water on the other side.
St. James Church
The St. James Church is a relic of early Christianity. Its baroque expansion is mainly due to the competitive thinking of neighboring communities. As a packhorse church, it gained early fame among the traders of the Alps, after all, it was first mentioned in documents in 1275. There is particular pride in the massive painting of Saint Christopher, the patron saint of travelers. It is also remarkable that the tower of the old church was placed on the new one. Note the vault painting by Johann Perwanger.
Wellness Park Arlberg-Stanzertal
In the Arlberg-Stanzertal Wellness Park, the focus is on your relaxation. The pool in the indoor swimming area, with 350 m² of water surface, is filled with 29 °C warm water. Massage jets gently relieve tension. A separate children's pool is available for young guests. The spa of the Arlberg-Stanzertal Wellness Park meets every need: there is a Finnish sauna, a sanarium, and a steam bath. The stay in the aroma steam bath is soothing. Steeply rising rock walls made of dolomite rock form the Schnanner Klamm.
