Salzburg - Climate

Salzburg is located on the northern edge of the Alps, which provides a warm-temperate climate. Due to its special location in the rain shadow, there is increased rainfall throughout the year. The "Salzburger Schnürlregen" is well-known. March and October are particularly rainy. The best time to travel is during the summer months when the thermometer averages 23°C. However, a visit to the city of Mozart is worthwhile all year round. In April and May, temperatures often reach 20°C. From November to March, it is also ski season with comparably mild temperatures between 4°C and 9°C. The world-famous Christkindlmarkt already begins at the end of November.
