Nagy-Eged Landscape Educational Trail

The local mountain of Eger is an ideal excursion destination. A hike on the botanical-zoological educational trail is an educational experience. It starts at the Bükk gate and leads to the 536 m high Nagy Eged. On the hill covered with vineyards, you can see as far as Lake Tisza on a clear day. Follow the letter T, which marks the approximately 4 km long hiking trail. Along the route, there are many display boards. They have QR codes that you can scan with your smartphone. You will receive interesting information about the regional flora and fauna. There are 11 display boards along the path.

One of the most popular hiking trails begins almost at the national border and leads 6.6 km through untouched nature. You walk between dense forests along the small stream and enjoy complete tranquility. The path itself is only paved in a few places, but due to the flat terrain, it presents few difficulties. Overall, you can expect the hike to take about two hours, allowing you to take small breaks along the way to enjoy the scenery. In spring and summer, the route is very popular. In autumn, the colorful sea of tree leaves delights.

The easy hiking trail leads across bizarre volcanic rock towers over Mount Szent-Mihály. Rare plants line the path. On a scenic saddle, the Jenő Hut invites you to rest. Then it goes down into the picturesque Apát-kúti Valley with its many idyllic trout ponds. In the valley, the path winds back to the starting point Pilisszentlászlo. The approximately 3.5-hour family-friendly circular hike without strenuous climbs begins at the main square of Pilisszentlászlo. Since the path partly leads over unprotected sections, you should definitely have sturdy hiking boots. Especially in summer, take enough drinking water! Back in Pilisszentlászlo, a visit to the Baroque church from 1772 is recommended.

Fülöp Hill (Hungary)

Tour to the Millennium Tower Fülop Hegyi

The tranquil resort town of Revfülop is a perfect starting point for the hike on the Fülop. Before the tour, you can strengthen yourself in a restaurant in the former fishing village. By car, you can reach a parking lot via Kilato Street. Now, continue on foot through a dense forest. Benches invite you to rest along the way. Finally, you reach the destination of the tour, the 22-meter-high Millennium Observation Tower. Climb the steps and enjoy the magnificent view over Lake Balaton and the witness mountains. The return journey is again through the forest. Some steps need to be overcome.

Hiking on the Zengö

During your tour on the Zengö, dense deciduous forests provide shade. From Pécsvárad, it goes to Hosszúhetény, where a visit to the castle garden is worthwhile. In May, countless peonies bloom around the community. From here, the path steadily ascends. Along the way, you will discover mystical springs and streams. Since the route is partly rocky and steep, the hike to the Zengö is classified as moderately difficult. It is worth taking a longer break at the summit of the highest mountain in the Mecsek Mountains to enjoy the view. At the Viki Piheno log cabin, you can use a fireplace.

Nagy Szénás Nature Trail

Follow the path with the "Leaf and Fruit" sign for great panoramic views. The fruit represents the rare whitebeam that is abundant in the Buda Hills. Along the themed trail, 7 stations provide information about plant rarities, the impact of humans on the regional landscape, steppe meadows, and karst bush forests. At Station 4, enjoy a magnificent view of the 472-meter-high Zsíros-hegy. The view from the next station of the northern Pilis and Visegrád Mountains is also impressive. At Station 6, wall remnants and a memorial stone commemorate a former popular tourist facility. The starting point of the educational trail is at the Nagykovácsi municipal office.

The Tűzgyűrű nature trail, the Feuerring educational trail, is an exciting nature trail for the whole family. It revolves around the volcanic landscape at Lake Balaton. The path leads through forested trails around the lakeside town of Badacsony, with the eponymous table mountain rising in the background. On the 4.6-kilometer-long and family-friendly hiking trail, it goes on a circular route with some inclines and numerous steps past ten informative stations about the world of volcanoes and their formation at Lake Balaton. Several viewpoints offer you fantastic panoramic views of the lake along the way.

Turul bird statue (Hungary)

Stairway to the Turul Bird Monument

You reach the impressive statue of the Turul bird, a creature from the world of fables, via a staircase. Allegedly, it was a Turul bird that once led the Hungarian people to Pannonia. There are numerous parking spaces around the attraction, and the ascent takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Once you have conquered the 420 steps leading to the Turul monument, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view. The statue itself is also worth seeing: the wingspan is 15 meters. The last restoration was carried out in 1992 by the sculptor Madrassy Walter.
