San Zeno Bardolino

Church of San Zeno

The Church of San Zeno consists of a steep space over a Latin cross with barrel vaults in the nave and transept. The cross vault is much higher, so that one can speak of a crossing tower, which is also clearly visible from the outside and has a small bell tower. The striving for an ancient monumentality is clearly recognizable: The obscure intimacy of the Lombard crypt, which was created only a few decades earlier, is no longer felt in the main room.
