Palau Monte Altura Fortress

The Fortress of Monte Altura

The fortress La Fortezza di Monte Altura, built by 1889, was considered the most beautiful in Europe at that time. It served to protect the Sardinian coast from the French fleet. Inside, an exhibition provides information about fortress construction on the Sardinian coast at the end of the 17th century. Take part in a guided tour of the fortress, which is also available in English. Since there is little shade, you should avoid the midday heat. Additionally, various cultural events take place on the grounds throughout the year, including popular concerts.
