Tour through the Karkonosze National Park

Your hike begins at the parking lot at the ticket office of the Karkonosze National Park in Karpacz. First, follow the yellow trail leading to Slonecznik. Continue towards Schneekoppe, the highest peak in the region at 1,603 meters. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view over the Czech Republic and Poland. From the northern slopes of Schneekoppe, you can return via the Jubilee Road. Before heading back, you can stop at the Schlesierhaus. The inn treats you to regional specialties and homemade cake. It is best to plan a whole day for the tour. You will overcome an elevation of 1,024 meters.

From Bielsko to Szyndzielna

It is particularly popular to walk from Bielsko up to the summit of Szyndzielnia. Here, you reach the ridge of the Kamitzer Plateau and gaze far over the hills and valleys of the Silesian Beskids. Just below the summit, a lookout tower and a mountain hut await guests. The ascent to the Szyndzielnia peak begins at the southern edge of Bielsko-Biała and takes you up a distance of about 5 km. Along the way, you pass through fragrant mixed and coniferous forests and look back at the spa town from the peak. Those who do not wish to hike back can take the cable car.

Hiking through the Chocholowska Valley

The promising hike begins at the Siwa Polana meadow. There are souvenir stands here. Initially, it goes on an asphalt road into the valley. Now it goes into the forest. The hike leads through the breathtaking Tatra National Park. At the end of the Dudowa Valley, the Droga pod Reglami trail starts. You follow the black marking and reach the Chocholowska shelter after about 20 minutes. Now it goes to the Chocholowska meadow, where sheep graze in the summer. A secret tip is the tour in spring: Then countless blooming crocuses line the path. Plan two to two and a half hours for the route.

Hike on the High Owl

The ascent to the Wielka Sowa is via the southern slope. You pass by the Bismarck Lodge, which was built in the 1930s. Nearby, you can see the Carl Wiesen Monument. It is dedicated to the factory owner who provided the land for the lodge. The path continues uphill until you reach the summit of the 1,015-meter-high Wielka Sowa. At the top, the Bismarck Tower invites you to visit. You can buy refreshments at a kiosk, and in the exhibition room on the first floor, you can learn interesting facts about the history of the building.

Rogaliński Landscape Park Circular Trail on the Warta

Hikers often start the tour through the Rogaliński Landscape Park in Rogalinek. From here, the route follows the Warta River through the untouched landscape. They pass numerous tributaries of the river and large oak trees, for which the landscape park is famous. Dead trees give it a primeval forest-like character. On the way back, you pass through Rogalin. It is worth planning a longer stay to stroll in the castle park. Here stand three impressive oaks named Lech, Czech, and Rus. The Siberian iris and sundew also grow here. Culture enthusiasts visit the art museum.

Tour through the Bialowieza Forest

The Zubra pedestrian bridge is the starting point of this short tour, which leads through the wetlands of the Bialowieza Forest. There is a parking lot on the road between Bialowieza and Budy. As you walk along wooden walkways past mighty ash, alder, and spruce trees, you listen to the chirping of rare birds. Trees up to 50 meters high line the hiking trail. In the impressive primeval forest, more than 12,000 animal species are native. You will encounter some of them on the Sciezka Edukacyjna, the nature trail. Information boards introduce visitors to rare animals such as the European bison. Wolves, lynxes, and Tarpan horses are also native to the show reserve.

Hike through the Dlugie Bagno

Various hiking routes lead through the Kampinoski Primeval Forest, which was declared a national park in 1959. The tour through the eastern forest area measures about 17 kilometers in length. You start in Dziekanow Lesny and follow the path into a pine forest. Soon you reach a mixed forest with dunes and swamp areas. At the "Old Oak," which is presumably 200 years old, hikers like to take a break. Towards the end of the tour, you reach the Sierakow protected area again. In a moor area covered with alders, you see beaver lodges. Then you come to a memorial for Witold Plapis, who shaped the national park.

The small town of Pisz is a central starting point for many hikes in the expansive forest landscape. The flat paths are also excellent for mountain biking tours. The combination of a hiking trip through the forest and relaxation at one of the countless lakes of the Masurian Lake District is appealing. A sporty tour is promised by the circular route that leads from Pisz through the forest landscape around Lake Jezioro Pogubie Wielkie and back through the forests on the other side of the shore to the starting point. This tour measures around 30 kilometers and is an excellent alternative to a demanding day hike, also suitable as a cycling excursion.
