The mountain lake located at around 1,800 m altitude can be easily reached by gondola from Engelberg in just 8 minutes. A stroller-friendly circular path, which can be walked in 1 hour, leads around the Trübsee, with several barbecue spots inviting you to grill. If you want to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains with Swiss delicacies, visit the cozy Hüethütte or the Alpstübli. There is even a mountain hotel at Trübsee, allowing you to stay overnight and start mountain tours to the glacier mountain Titlis.
Engelberg Monastery
The Engelberg Monastery is one of the largest Baroque complexes in central Switzerland. Its church houses the largest organ in Switzerland, with over 137 registers. In total, the monastery includes eleven businesses, including several restaurants and a show dairy. From the monastery, you can enjoy magnificent panoramas. Enjoy the view of the mountains such as the Hahnen or the Titlis, which surround the community. Picturesque gorges like the Aaschlucht are waiting to be discovered by you.

Well-marked hiking trails for all levels of difficulty - from leisurely walks along the mountain lake to more challenging summit climbs - lead into the impressive mountain scenery. Engelberg - Secret spots
Engelberg Valley Museum
The Valley Museum in Engelberg in the canton of Obwalden is housed in the Wappenhaus in the middle of the village center. The Wappenhaus is a typical farmhouse from the 18th century. The museum documents the everyday life of the Engelberg population at that time. Visitors are welcome from Wednesday to Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
Engelberg Monastery
For more than 900 years, the Engelberg Monastery has shaped the town of the same name near Lake Lucerne in central Switzerland. Today's monastery is one of the largest Baroque complexes in Switzerland and can be explored on a guided tour. Particularly impressive is the opulent interior of the monastery church with the largest organ in Switzerland.
Härzlisee
At the foot of the Rigidalstock above Engelberg lies the small Härzlisee. It was created in 2000 as a water reservoir in the Brunni hiking and winter sports area. Around the lake runs a 220 m long barefoot path, also known as the tickle path, which is especially popular with families with children.
Stierenbach
The Stierenbach originates at the 2,291 m high Surenen Pass above Engelberg in Central Switzerland and transforms into the 26 m high Stäuberfall. This is a popular excursion destination and can be reached from Engelberg on foot or by the Fürenalp cable car. The hike from the valley station takes about two hours.
Engelberg - In 3 days
Day 1
Unpack your bags and look forward to your first adventure. Take the cable car up to the Titlis, the 3,238 m high local mountain of Engelberg. The path to the summit leads in four stages, with the last stretch offering a special experience in a rotating gondola with a 360° panoramic view of the mountain world. Around the summit, there are hiking trails ranging from relaxed to ambitious. A moderately challenging tour leads on a one-hour hiking trail from the summit to the small Stäubi waterfall. The path, guaranteed to refresh, is easily walkable until autumn. In winter, a 50 km winter hiking trail network around the local mountain awaits you. You will hike through deep fir forests in the midst of the magnificent silence of the winter wonderland through white powder snow. Afterwards, warm up in the Eienwäldli rock bath. With its adventure pool with waterfall, steam grotto, Kneipp pool, and children's pool, it is also worth a relaxing visit in summer.
Day 2
On the second day, you will go up to the Titlis again, this time to explore the highlights off the hiking trails. The Titlis Cliff Walk at over 3,000 m altitude is spectacular. Those with a head for heights can walk 500 m above the abyss on a suspension bridge with wire ropes, and this is possible in any season. Afterwards, you will visit the glacier grotto, which is also accessible all year round. A fascinating world of ice awaits you on frosty paths through the grotto, which is an exciting adventure for kids. Back in the town center of Engelberg, a visit to the Engelberg Monastery is scheduled for the afternoon. The origin of today's holiday resort Engelberg dates back to this Benedictine abbey founded in the 12th century. During a guided tour, you will visit the monastery, immerse yourself in the contemplative atmosphere, and learn a lot of interesting facts about the cultural history of the monastery and thus also about the history of your holiday resort.
Day 3
On the third day of the winter vacation, it's off to the slopes. With its approximately 80 kilometers of slopes, the Engelberg Titlis ski area is the largest in Central Switzerland. It is ideal for a family vacation on skis or snowboards, as most of the slopes are of easy or medium difficulty. But experienced winter sports fans also look forward to a selection of challenging runs. A highlight, not just for kids, is the snow tubing track at Trübsee. On a rubber tire, you race down the slopes and conveniently go back up with the conveyor belt for the next round of fun. Those visiting Engelberg in the summer will find Trübsee to be a relaxed paradise for a day by the water. Sunbathing, swimming, and picnicking are on the agenda. There are pebble beaches, barbecue spots, and a playground, and if you like, you can grab a rowboat for a small boat tour.
