Baltic Sea Coast Hiking Trail (European Long-Distance Path E9)

Hike the Baltic Sea Coastal Trail at a relaxed pace in several daily stages. In keeping with the E9, the section between Lübeck-Travemünde and Ahlbeck on the island of Usedom is also marked with the typical blue-striped markings. These guide you along the path often located close to the coast through the breathtaking landscape of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Remote bays and enchanted fishing villages alternate. You hike through majestic coastal forests and a landscape shaped by wind and sea. The view of the Baltic Sea allows you to discover something new again and again. On the Baltic Sea Coastal Trail, you can explore seaside resorts and Hanseatic cities, such as Rostock, Wismar, and Greifswald.

North Sea Baltic Sea hiking trail

North Sea-Baltic Sea Hiking Trail

The first stage of the North-Baltic Sea hiking trail takes you on a 27-kilometer route through fields and meadows to Dithmarschen, where you can visit the Stone Age Park. After the second stage, you will have already reached the Kiel Canal, which is one of the busiest artificial waterways in the world. Hike along the canal until you reach the picturesque Rendsburg with its late Gothic Church of St. Mary. Continue on to the Westensee. The fifth and final stage is about 20 kilometers long and ends at the Schulensee in Kiel. In terms of difficulty, the North-Baltic Sea hiking trail is classified as moderately difficult.

Kühlungsborn

Kühlungsborn – Diedrichshagen Hill

Wildly romantic and densely forested, the Kühlung rises near the seaside resort of Kühlungsborn on the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In this otherwise flat region, the Kühlung is an exception. With the Diedrichshagener Berg, it reaches a height of around 129 meters and is wonderfully suited for coastal hikes. From the highest elevation of the Kühlung, one has a wonderful view of Kühlungsborn and its surroundings. In addition to cycling and hiking tours, one can also undertake excursions on horseback here. Hikes usually start in Kühlungsborn. The route is just under 14 kilometers long and takes three and a half hours.

Day tour through the north of Usedom

The northern part of Usedom can be excellently explored on two special day tours. The first stage leads from Loddin to Koserow and finally ends in Zinnowitz. You cover 19 kilometers and can enjoy the view from the Loddiner Höft, a peninsula jutting into the Achterwasser, right at the start. As you continue, you climb the Streckelsberg in Koserow until you finally arrive at the destination, Zinnowitz, where you will find unique spa architecture. The second stage begins in Peenemünde and leads through Karlshagen to Zinnowitz. This northern tour takes you through solitary pine forests and past the breeding grounds of the grey herons.

Darss hike

Darß Star Tours - Stage 1

The first day tour takes you from Prerow to Darßer Ort and back to Prerow. You initially hike on small paths through the enchanted Darß Forest towards the West Beach. Passing ancient gnarled beeches and magical alder swamps, you reach the historic lighthouse. Those who wish can climb the 134 steps to the observation platform. At the foot of the lighthouse, the Natureum provides information about the flora and fauna of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. After a short break, the journey continues through the breathtaking dune landscape along picturesque beach lakes eastwards to the emergency harbor Darßer Ort and back to Prerow. This first stage of the tour measures 16 kilometers in length.

High Shore Path Jasmund on Rügen

The white chalk cliffs of Rügen drop steeply into the Baltic Sea. Some of the most beautiful views of the distinctive cliffs can be enjoyed on a leisurely hike along the Jasmund High Shore Trail. It runs for 12 kilometers, aptly named, above the coast through the national park. From the starting point in Lohme, the Jasmund High Shore Trail leads high above the coast to the Königsstuhl, the most famous chalk cliff of Rügen. Here, in addition to the view of the cliffs, a break with a visit to the national park center with an interesting interactive exhibition is worthwhile. The trail continues through the coastal forest to the endpoint in Sassnitz.

Bodden Rügen

Ruegen Bodden Panorama Trail

Connected to nature and quiet, you are on the Great Jasmund Bodden on flat paths amidst the Bodden landscape with wide meadow landscapes and small forests. Active individuals opt for a hike on the Rügen Bodden Panorama Trail. Join the 24-kilometer tour for a day stage or plan a multi-day hike. The Rügen Bodden Panorama Trail primarily leads you on the left side of the Bodden along the coastal hinterland of the lagoon. From Neuenkirchen, it goes to Ralswiek. As a beautiful highlight, you cross the bridge between the Small Jasmund Bodden and the Great Jasmund Bodden and end in Neu-Mukran just a stone's throw from the Baltic Sea coast.

Mönchgut

Circular hike to Cape Nordperd

The Mönchgut Nature Reserve makes up a large part of the peninsula and impresses with its diverse landscape featuring extensive dry grasslands, salt marshes, swamp landscapes, small forest sections, and cliffs steeply dropping to the coast. The Nordperd Cape near Göhren represents the easternmost point of Rügen and is an attractive destination for a hiking tour on the Mönchgut. On a roughly 6-kilometer circular hike to Nordperd Cape, you start from the Baltic Sea resort of Göhren along the beach promenade until you turn onto the high shore path. High above the coast, it goes to the easternmost point of the densely wooded cape and along the Göhren South Beach back to the center of Göhren.
